화천 용암리 단독주택 건축주의 소개를 받은 동네 주민분께서 주택 설계를 의뢰하였습니다. 강원도 화천에 위치하고 있지만, 택지 개발을 통해 일정 규모의 필지를 나누어 분양된 대지입니다.

단독주택을 원하는 사람들의 공통된 요구가 있습니다. ‘프라이버시와 개방감’ 둘은 상반되는 개념이지만, 주택이라면 충족해야만 합니다. 외부와 주택 내부의 관계도 중요하지만, 삶의 체류시간이 긴 주택 내부 공간들의 관계가 더 중요합니다. 내부 공간의 관계를 통해 만들어지는 경계는 상대적 공간과 심리적 공간의 거리감을 조정하며 다중 경계를 만들고, 내부의 프라이버시와 개방감을 다채롭게 만듭니다.

경계는 가족 간 심리적-물리적 거리, 방문객과 물리적 거리를 형성하며 공간을 다변적으로 만듭니다. 내부 공간들의 경계에 외부공간-토지에 접한 소나무 숲, 멀리 보이는 북한강, 대지에 놓인 건축물까지-이 개입하기도 하며 공간의 다양성을 만들어내고 단일 용도로만 점유되지 않도록 합니다.

개입된 외부 공간에 의해 햇빛, 주변 외부 환경, 시간에 따라 경계가 변화합니다. 시간에 따라 변화하며 경계는 공간의 분위기를 시시각각 다르게 만들며 공간을 풍성하게 합니다. 시간에 따른 경계는 주택의 동선을 규정하지 않으며, 선택에 따른 흐름을 만들어냅니다.

The boundary created through the relationship of the inner space adjusts the distance between the relative space and the psychological space, creates multiple boundaries, and creates a sense of privacy and openness inside.

Boundaries form a psychological-physical distance between family members and a physical distance from visitors, and make the space diverse. Outside spaces—a pine forest adjacent to the land, the Bukhangang River in the distance, and buildings placed on the site—intervene in the boundaries of the interior spaces, creating diversity in space and preventing it from being occupied by a simple use.

The boundary changes according to the sunlight, the surrounding external environment, and time by the intervening external space. Changing with time, the boundary makes the atmosphere of the space different every moment and enriches the space.
